One of the crops we grow at Platte Prairie Farm is bamboo. I planted a grove of Phyllostachys Aureosulcata in 2002 and now harvest canes 20 ft
bamboo canes
long and one and a quarter inch diameter. I use them for trellising, earth art, potted for home or patio and for food.
Each spring starting around May 1st new shoots pop up. I harvest and sell the shoots at BadSeed. The’re quite tasty stir fried with onions, sweet potatoes or winter squash.
