Fall CSA Agreement

Platte Prairie Farms 2009 Fall CSA Agreement

What Is Community Supported Agriculture?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is an alliance between farmers and eaters. Families and individuals who join the CSA receive a share of produce every other week for 12 weeks from October 22- January 7. We become a community supporting our local secure food system by adding our human Energy and Spirit. In exchange, members sign a contract for the season, agree to pay in advance, and help with the chores several times throughout the growing year. Both partners share in the risks and rewards of small-scale farming: weather, insect damage, deer, and bumper crops.
What Is My Share of the Food?
For the Fall CSA approximately 120lb including 75lb of winter storage vegetable (sweet potatoes and winter squash)
Bulk quantities can be purchased for canning, freezing, and storage.
Every other week the share of produce will vary….more drastically with the changes in season.
Crops grown for Fall CSA
Cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kohlrabi, Chinese cabbage, lettuce/greens
Kale, beets, turnips, radish, spinach, rutabagas, carrots, bunching onions

SHARE SIZES & COST
Fall Vegetable and Storage Crop Share $200
In your Yard CSA Storage Crop Share $100

How Does It Work?
Each member household contributes by assisting with the harvest of the shares and the general farm work of that particular day a few times throughout the season. (Don’t worry folks, the atmosphere is relaxed and there is nothing like pulling your food out of the ground on a hot, sweaty day and going home to eat it!!) Farm shifts will be scheduled at the convenience of the individual members
FARM SHIFTS
Total of 5 hours per share (shifts to be scheduled with individual)
